El agua del r\u00edo previa a la represa (tipo B) se ha infiltrado a 300 m de profundidad cerca del centro de El Paso, y se ha mezclado con, o ha sido desplazada r\u00edo abajo por el agua subterr\u00e1nea nativa de alta salinidad de Hueco Bols\u00f3n (tipo C, presente en la cuenca al norte del r\u00edo ). Los l\u00edmites de salinidad e is\u00f3topos no se corresponden con precisi\u00f3n. La estratificaci\u00f3n de is\u00f3topos corresponde al tiempo de residencia del agua y (para el tipo C) al grado de evaporaci\u00f3n; las salinidades m\u00e1s altas est\u00e1n asociadas con el agua m\u00e1s evaporada.
